The bigger the opportunity...the bigger the trap. Countless biotechs failed by putting all chips on the table. i.e hiring lots of "cheap" full time employees and guess what...running out of cash

Pete Culpeper the CFO came in with good knowledge on the subject: keep burn rate while going "wide". Using the Lean concept. i.e Go upfront when you need it while testing at the same burn rate.

I find it personally VERY appealing that they do not fall in the -hire a lot and push big now- trap. It happened to AstraZeneca and ended in a blood bath. For Biotechs, it's the first reason they fail, not the drug they're testing.

Now Many Big companies use the concept. Especially when about new market entry, new product, game changer products/services.
