So an extra device to carry around that is just an extension of what the phone already does? i.e., instead of pulling your phone out of your pocket to read a message when it vibrates, you can look on a smaller screen on your wrist. Hard to see how someone would want the extra baggage and pay much for that.
And yet, when Pebble offers pretty much the same set of limited capabilities, you lauded them as "superb functionality?!" Anyway, I generally agree with you on this latest point. Maybe we're wrong; In a world where people were already buying watches, giving them a some additional value-add features would make a particular watch stand out. But as it is, for my money, be it $100 or $300, I don't need to shift my notification center/ shade to my wrist, and furthermore, this doesn't convince me that I should wear a watch when I otherwise wouldn't. I think Pebble will be just another device that missed the mark, and the space is still wide open for Apple to give wearables some raison d'etre. |
