No according to many economists it was a fantasy. Those that support the stimulus (or even something bigger), mostly would see a slightly worse recession without it, not something like the great depression.

Bush did it first is hardly a defense of something, esp. when your not talking to Bush, but even if you where. Someone making a mistake or doing something wrong, doesn't excuse someone else making the mistake.

No he didn't. Closer to the opposite. He made some (ham handed) efforts to get their support when he needed it, and when he didn't he just pushed whatever he wanted with no concern at all about what they think or care about.
