"Capitalism" is used to mean somewhat different things. Instead I'll use the term free market. In free markets the capitalists don't run things. They have to get customers to want to buy things from them, they need to attact workers etc. They can get very rich, but that isn't the same thing as running things.

That's why many capitalists oppose free markets. They might want to actually run things to some extent, and they need to recruit the government for that. More likely they just want to make even higher profits, or not have to work as hard to attract demanding customers, so again they recruit the government in order to get benefits or restrict competition. To the extent that's the way things are operating we are in a less and less free market, its further from capitalism, but the capitalists have more power because of that move.
