It all just comes down to self-interest.

I think the Brotherhood in Egypt was trying to get their people to go to Syria and fight AGAINST Assad, so it's no surprise that Assad would like those guys out.

The Egyptian military has been VERY pragmatic over the last 30 years or so, so I figure Assad AND the Israelis are rooting for them to keep control.

Iraq IS supporting Assad and they don't really have a choice at this point.
