Dear Dale,

If we see posts that are particularly egregious, we'll act on them regardless of where on the site they occur.

But we do not have the time, staff nor inclination to police the political boards the same way we do the stock boards.

We recognize and agree that these mud-throwing insult posts detract greatly from the site. The way users conduct themselves here does reflect on SI. Its not worth traffic - without naming names, we absolutely do not want to become like other stock forums in this regard. SI is better and we want it to remain this way. We have warned some individuals.

We are considering changes, including giving trusted volunteers administrative powers, and forming a committee of long-time users approve new members.

This is a very important part of what SI is and has always been known for, and we will do whatever is necessary to retain its character in this regard.
