People are unreasonable, or have different ideas, so I don't know any way to have a perfect society. Like they say, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I finally got out of politics after a run at the house when I could, because I noticed everyone, left and right only saw things from their own point of view.

The left was unreasonable in my town about mining and building. I always tried to see both sides of an issue.

Presumably (I'll take your word for it) the system is good. You realize that when people are trying to cut government they aren't specifically aiming to chop off what is good, and leave all the bad stuff. Quite the opposite. But then again and again you defend the bad stuff by arguing for the good and/or necessary. "We had to defeat Hitler", or "disaster planning" doesn't support huge interventionist bureaucracies, crony capitalism, the war on drugs, etc.
