For sure, I'd give anything to see a moving image of me when I was younger regardless of quality. The closest I have to that, which I've not seen yet but am assured it still exists, is when I was 14 and a girl classmate cast me as the lead in her class project: Cinderfella. I had sparkle on my face. I might have preferred Spartacus, but it is what it is.

No reason to digitally remove people from past videos, IMO. If a family member has an issue, give them a copy and let them do it if they are easily offended.

I also have boxes of VHS tapes as well. Most of it is recorded off the TV as opposed to the result of using a camera device, so likely worthless (since most anything that was ever on TV is likely on YouTube anyhow). But, if I do decide to convert it, the Elgato device seems like the best approach. BTW, did the date/time stamp ever transfer over with Elgato from the Hi8 tapes?
