As you pointed out: The code is open source and freely downloadable... so take a look at it yourself. Anyone can scrutinize it.

The fact that the NSA submitted some contributions in and of itself, doesn't mean something bad. I'd take the patches for what they are, security fixes.

If someone found any sort of trojan, that would certainly be a cause for major alarm. But you can't just assume they are a bad actor. You know, the government occasionally does do something good.

That said, please lets avoid getting political if we can on this thread.
