when a person's desire to involve themselves in other people's lives and solve their problems for them under the guise of good intentions, it usually indicates an underlying unhealthy psychological condition with unresolved issues. it is a way for those meddling, but well intentioned people to feel better about themselves (read 'superior') while simultaneously avoiding their own issues (read 'denial).
