Another story of increased spending and it's impact.
The Wisconsin Public Service Commission on Thursday approved a 10.5% rate increase for Wisonsin Electric Power. The increase will generate in excess of $150 million in 1998. The morning paper states in part,
"The proceeds from the rate increase will be gobbled up by new employees, repairs to the Point Beach nuclear power plant, upgrading the company's transmission system -- and to improve its computer system to avoid glitches that could be caused by the "year 2000" changeover."
