Bentway has boasted of having a sawed off shotgun (barely legal he said) rigged to carry on a string under a coat. I think he'd be the type to blow the guy away and run, throwing the shotgun down a storm drain and relying on them never being able to trace the shooting to him.

Bent says he's inquired about the legality of shooting burglars years before:

"no kind of booby trap is allowed at residences or businesses"

I had a big dog flap on my door in Austin, Tx. and was being repeatedly burglarized through it. I figured it was kids, since they were the only one's small enough to fit through, and they were stealing change and stuff kids might take. I called the police, and asked if I could set up a trap to dump paint on them - nope!

Then, I had a discussion with the cops about what I could do about burglary. The cops told me I couldn't shoot someone running off with my TV, but if the thief was running toward me with the TV over his head in a threatening manner, I could shoot him!
