I know exactly how you feel. And I think "surreal" is not a bad way of putting it. How the hell does this even happen?

But I don't know how Jim Jones got them to drink the Koolaid. There are just a lot of people who cannot think for themselves.

One of my good lifelong friends tonight sent me a link to the following story:

This guy defines the term "yellow dog Democrat". It would not matter what Democrat was running for president, he's voting for him. Period, end of story. My cousin & her husband, who are also close friends, are the same way. They're kids, same way. If Charles Manson ran for president on the Democrat ticket next year they would vote for him.

Rational thought just never enters into the picture with these people.

Which makes us all feel better, I'm quite sure.
