I have a parallel to USB cable attached. I'm pretty sure the speed is way faster than 4ppm. The selling point of my software was that it recreated hundreds of standardized insurance forms on plain paper, filled-in, so you didn't have to stock the forms any more. As such, I programmed both in PCL and PostScript and had the printer running all day every day with test prints. And it's still (knock on wood) in perfect running condition.

There's something really messed up when you can get an entirely new printer for the price of a toner cartridge, especially when the printer comes with a new toner cartridge! A quick search on toner for the 1020 vs 4 yielded the following:

1020 - $80 for 2000 pages (HP 12A)
4 - $133 for 6800 pages (HP 98A)

That's $272 spent for the same number of pages. Again, something isn't right here. Technology is supposed to make things more efficient and cheaper, not vice versa.
