Did you see how good those response rates were? Yes they are lower in the Stage IV patients as all other drugs are. At that point the immune system cannot keep up with the tumor burden no matter what drug is given.

Now let me be the first to clarify what a "response rate" really is out there. Some companies response rate is disease control while others are merely 5% tumor reduction. It's all in what the study is claiming for their target. Many cancer drugs out there have such a lax target that taking aspirin would give a response. So when one drug company announces their drug results you have to be very critical of the claim and what the target end point was for the study, so forth and so on. I expect the same scrutiny with pv-10. That being said, it is my opinion that the response rate for stage IV in Pv-10 patients is by far better than any other drug out there.

Now going back to NTTG's point of a reduced response rate for stage IV. The results can be misleading. The study ended at 12 weeks. What is the actual response rate at 20 weeks? Try north of 60%. It took longer for the immune system to respond in stage IV patients. The company is not allowed to report results past 12 weeks.

If pv-10 were to run a full six months you would find results that would blow the other drugs right out of the water.
