i was feeling a slot better about Phils because Ben Revere has been a sparkplug, then he breaks his foot fool on a fould ball hitting his foot--aaargh!!!!! Gees he was hitting something like .42 since July started. But he trade of Worley for Revere has proven a steal---you are FAR to young, but me at 72, see Richie Ashburn--both his strength and weaknesses. Ashburn batted over 300 his entire carrer but hit about 3 HRs, but was fast, a basestealet, and general nuisance, a fine CF, except m like Revere he had at best an average arm(same as Revere). Richies biggest asset though beyond Revere was he wore pitchers out with fould balls, he was amazong, i remember a game he fouled off 13!!! straight pitches, and then took a ball four. So we are are without the redhot Revere for an unknown length of time, only hope, Mayberry gest on a roll. Daren Ruf , i like. Phils now must decide do be a seller on trading period or stand pat. Teams are after after Pabelbom and Michael Young. And Lee is the number one target in MLB during this time. Amaro says Lee untouchable. Red Sox seems to be team that is willing to trade a couple top prospects to get Papelbon back in Boston. That we won that 2nd game 2-1, neutralized a day, the would have been have been a nightmare doubleheader. CWS remind me of Miami, good pitching with a triple-AAA batting line up. i want Phils to get Howard to accept a future career of plattoning with Ruf--Howard simple can't hit Lefthanders, maybe becuse his rotten knees(knees big part of setting to rip a pitch.. Ruf against Lefthanders and Howard against Righthanders, and maybe the two together could match Howards old numbers. Max |
