Lumia 1020 or Lumia 909? ...

This is an interesting screen shot of the Lumia 909 (preproduction Lumia 1020 with preproduction firmware) taken by AnandTech's Brian Klug at the demo session of the 'Zoom Revisited' media event:

It looks like the 1020 was going to be the 909, or perhaps it was simply prototype nomenclature . For several reasons I'm glad 1020 (like for 1020p) was chosen not the least of which is that it sets it apart as a true flagship (at least till a quad-core version running GDR 3 is available) rather than just an imaging flagship. I do suspect that 909 was considered and the quad-core version was going to be the 1020. I also suspect we'll soon see a 1040 and 94x Lumias powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad Krait processors with WP 8 GDR 3 -- hopefully in time for the holiday season that starts on our Thanksgiving.

Below are 2 videos shot by AnandTech shot in the demo area before and after the presentation in NYC. The first features PureView co-inventor Dr. Juha Alakarhu who presented on stage with Stephen Elop and Dr. Kristina Björknäs who presented on stage with Stephen Elop. [Please note that Kristina and Stephen are both credited along with Juha as being authors of the new PureView Lumia 1020 whitepaper].

Brian included the following table comparing specs of the Symbian Belle 808 PV, the Lumia 1020 and the Samsung Galaxy Camera and the Galaxy S4 Zoom (not the S4 with its smaller sensor but which today is considered to be the 2nd best commercially available imaging smartphone trailing only the 808 PV) ...
