Marlin, a lot of players key around the 21 day, and you are right the trend seems to be set giving it that period of time.....If you set the momentum indicator at a lower level, it gives many false signals as it flutters above and below the zero line...I think I misspoke myself on the derivative, the moving average, according to Bernstein it should be set at an 18 period, not a 21 period, with the Momentum indicator set at a 21 period.......These settings help to alleviate many false signals..... I also like to use the momentum indicator with other derivatives, and watch for crossovers of the two....You can use RSI, Stochastics, or Rate of Change as alternative derivatives.....
