Shalom and Greetings to you on our Lords Day Robert from Nancy,
I do not understand your need to be identified as a Jew (spiritual or otherwise). God loves all His creation the way He has made them. The true issue is the denial of Jewish people to continue in their culture and heritage. Apostle Paul declared himself a Jew on many occasions and states that there are many advantages to being a Jew in the new covenant. The new covenant itself from Jeremiah 31:31-34 is made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, if this is the case would it not nullify the covenant(that requires 2 parties) if the house of Israel and Judah dissolved. In Romans 11:1 Paul who is the Apostle to the Gentiles states that he is an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham of the tribe of Benjamin. According to your interpretation shouldn't he say I used to be an Israelite but now am a Christian. The new covenant again was made with one Nation (Israel) and was made available to the Nations Isaiah 49:6 "It's to small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept (remnant)I will also make you a light to the Gentiles that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth. As usual there is Israel and the Nations as 2 things. Why would the Apostles and new believers continue to celebrate the feast and go to Synagogue as was the custom of Paul Acts 17:2 if it were all dead and gone. There are many covenants in the Old covenant and this is the source of some differences. The covenant spoken of in Hebrews that was fulfilled by the Lord is the Mosaic Covenant. The Noahic, Davidic, Abrahamic and the Palestinic covenant of the future promises of the Messianic Kingdom and physical Israel are in operation and unchanged.
Romans 2:28-29 needs to be taken in context starting with verse 17 to see that Paul was addressing non believing Jews and explaining the need of faith and an inward relationship with God. Wouldn't he address it to Gentiles if that was who he was referring to? The love of God is so sufficient and abundant that everyone will be satisfied in His love. Robert it is hard for Alan and I to feel that you are concerned for us after you have slandered the people we love. If I stated that your parents and family that may not be believers were anti-Christ and have no value unless they come to the Lord you would feel uncomfortable (I hope). I would rather see you encouraged the brethren to pray for their Jewish brothers and sisters in their state of separation from their Messiah. This will please the Lord. Whether or not they are saved is not our concern but Gods all I know is that deserve more respect and love than what I have read. Paul says that he would even give up his relationship with the Lord to see them saved, so where do we get off in pointing out there temporary blindness.I do love you and will pray for God to help us to reason the scriptures together in a way that glorifies His Son.

Nancy
