Synthetic was made because Flake could not get to high purity. Beside ZEN, there is also Northern Graphite (through Hazen Research) that has succeeded in achieving 99.8-99.99% natural graphite from flakes. Can NGC's process be brought to commercial levels? That remain to be seen. ZEN and NGC deposits are not same. But it is hard to say if their recovery process are similar or different because NGC doesn't say a lot, as their process is proprietary. Both processes appear to be environmentally friendly and cheaper than the Chinese version. From the timing of the press releases, it looks like NGC was first. But from the description of the processes, it looks like ZEN has an advantage, being an off-the-shelf process. This just mean that achieving purity from flakes is a reality. northerngraphite.com ZEN is a market success so far. Too bad I missed it. But the game is just starting and will be there for years. IMO, there will be many winners. Congrats to all shareholders.
