"Not true. You don't get to make that rule, and you have not produced any evidence that he was violating the watch rules by carrying a gun."

He has the right to carry a gun for self protection which is different than using a gun in the performance of (police) duty. There is no evidence that he ever acted as a vigilante.
No one was attempting to beat him to death......

Except that it was Trayvon's stated intention, supported by Jeantel's comments (whoop assss), and all the evidence to the contrary, you might have a point. Your contention that there had to be some sort of "fair fight" response is over the top ridiculous.
Zim being the smart guy you say he is, knew the police were on the way,
neighbors were watching, and he had MMA training himself.
The police were coming, neighbors were watching, Trayvon had taken him down ambush style, and was beating him severely while making threats on his life. George never had any opportunity to fight to defend himself. Since he had training this is more evidence that it was never the kind of "fight' you keep claiming it was.

I never said he is smart. I have no idea how smart he is. I watched the Robert Zimmerman interview and was very impressed but I've only seen pictures of George and read accounts of this trial. I reviewed the evidence for my self and have not found one piece of evidence that suggests George did anything wrong.
He had far more options available to him than shooting to kill....
Obviously not from his point of view, which unlike yours is valid.
Your article: In every presentation, “I go through what the rules and
responsibilities are,” she said Thursday. The volunteers’ role, she said, is
“being the eyes and ears” for the police, “not the vigilante.” Members of a
neighborhood watch “are not supposed to confront anyone,” she said. “We get
paid to get into harm’s way. You don’t do that. You just call them from the
safety of your home or your vehicle.

Your article is over a year old. Now that all the available evidence has been presented we have found no evidence that George ever confronted Trayvon or did anything wrong. He was caught in ambush outside his vehicle, which is noted as an unsafe circumstance, and he rightfully defended himself.
There's one loose end I haven't heard discussed......Zim's flashlight was found
about 30 feet away from the fight..how did it get there????
You haven't heard it discussed because it is a no brainer. Thirty feet is nothing. A flashlight could have easily been flung that far without even thinking about it just in an attempt to have free hands when being assaulted and thrown to the ground. I doubt Zimmerman or anyone else knows why it was exactly where it was.

The evidence is overwhelming that Zimmerman is an innocent man who was trying to perform a good duty for his neighborhood. Trayvon made the tragic and fatal mistake of attacking someone he believed he could whip but who was armed for his own defense. Persecuting an innocent man and starting a race war is not going to change that, it is only going to cause more harm.
