The Gold Bears Come Out Of The Closet. No Kidding C.B.
There were threads here and in Newsgroups this time last year, and you could barely find a gold bear anywhere. Those that were negative had little information to offer to explain to the bulls/bugs the reasoning behind their positions. Now they are showing up all over the place with a holy than thou attitude, educated to the ying yang, saying I knew it all along....yadda yadda yadda.....humans eh...too funny.....
Imagine how important they must be to have known of the Central Bank issues a year ago.All of the circumstances surrounding today's price are exceptional, and had even the most notable writers and analysts shaking their heads in disbelief. The only one on this site who had called it right on a gold related thread, did not elude to any reasons, and was not appreciated due to his/her unwillingness to post in a decent way and carry on a meaningfull discussion.Unfortunate for all.
I believe wer'e in that grey area where the turn will come, but like a large ship,it will be slow and the navigation treacherous.Good time to buy and hold maybe, whatever the fluctuations. The volume on the TSE G&S index is picking up.Add tax loss selling and institutional " book- keeping ",and the bargoons they are many,if you believe things will improve.I don't think oil will move much this year,up or down, unless the Middle East becomes unstable again.Even then, production from other countries can help supply the shortages. The new technologies are to be considered, but they are a few years behind increased demand. The global warming and burning of coal may have more affect.Countries are being " encouraged " to burn cleaner fuels. Thus you see this big tar sands project get the green light in Canada.I doubt this project would have gone ahead if they didn't think prices would remain or go higher. All speculation, but agree with your de-linking in the event of a major shift. We live in interesting times.
BTW:Isn't it fun to watch the Globe & Mail Bull And Bear Survey.Man, Iv'e seen lemmings and I've seen like thinkers, but this survey proves why many enjoy doing their own investing.Seems the bottom has to fall out or a sector skyrocket till they shift, and they all shift at once. No wonder their funds all perform about the same,if they infact do what they say.I like them as a contrary indicator also, but must keep in mind, they,by their size, hold large influences and can be accurate short term. They are all overwhelmingly bearish, like all the Newbie bears who popped up everwhere, after they recognized gold had infact gone down significantly, and to pull numbers out of the air cause they heard someone say that number somewhere. All very fun stuff.Go Gold!~
