Let's face it, people. Old farts like us get constipated. It's part of life. I got caught early due to a colon cancer operation when I was 51 that got rid of my cancer and three feet of my sigmoid colon. I figure that was part of the reason for my constant constipation, tied in with wheat caused IBS and everything else you can think of. Thirty six years later, I have finally found a solution for my problem. Since we are all different, it may not work for you. I use Miralax at various levels to keep me loose. The reason I like it the best is that I find I go up and down, like all of us, in ability to evacuate. I have used Fleet ENEMAS for decades to start my bowels moving. Staying a little on the hard side is better than the other way, IMO. The bottles are completely reusable, keep refilling until the bottle leaks. I buy them in four packs at Costco. I simply squat over the toilet and insert the tube. The "flush" from it usually starts the bowel movement. If it doesn't, I fill it back up and squirt it up a couple of more times until I either start or figure the "pouch" we all have just before the opening is empty. The advantage of the miralax is that it is strong, and a small amount works. I mix it with some juice and it does not get thick. The dose is supposed to be a capful, But I usally use half that amount in the evening with my pills. Get too loose, quit for a couple of days. Get too hard, increase the dosage for a couple of days. No matter what you do, you will vary in the ability to aid your evacuation. | |
