A couple of objections can be raised against the "thin client" model. The first is that it's an advantage to have dedicated client software, since it allows you to update only the vital figures within an invariant structured context. If your web connection is slow, this can be a significant advantage. And why load a huge program like Netscape if all you want is updated sales instructions? A dedicated client program sounds like a good idea.

The second follows from the first: if client software provides added value, BROC is passing up a chance to make money.

I can see that in certain cases, perhaps even a large number, Broc's solution would be attractive. But it's not obvious that the solution is in principle superior.
