Not long ago, I predicted Lumia volumes in the US to be nearly a million in Q2. Now, I think we'll be lucky to break 600K. A year ago, Nokia launched the Lumia 900 and probably sold 400K.
Spinning their wheels in the US. A year ago, on the back of the Lumia 900 launch, Nokia generated 128m EUR in sales on 600K shipped handsets (213 EUR ASP, which includes some feature phones, no doubt) in North America. In the MRQ, with Lumia's at 3 major US carriers, Nokia generated 123m EUR in sales on 500K shipped units (246 EUR ASP). Disappointing, as it seems like the US continues to be the focus of Nokia's attention. The ROI on that marketing spend has been anemic. Now we pin our hopes on 2 big launches this quarter (925 at TMobile, and 1020 at AT&T). The 1020 seems to be generating real excitement, but sales will be limited at that price point. |
