This is bullshit. I work with clinics daily who have tens of thousands, sometimes more, in uncollected/unbilled copays. Every physician I work with, or have ever worked with, will see patients without them paying their copay if they just ask and agree to pay it when they can. Lots will see patients who have no copay and no insurance.

I wouldn't think of going to a doctor without paying anymore than I would going to the grocery store without paying. But these same people have no problem with paying for beer, Big Macs, and cigarettes. If they're so broke they can't come up with a $20 copay, they should apply for Medicaid.

Our billing service routinely handles accounts where patients have been seen tens of times with expired Medicaid -- we have one physician we work with that we contact WEEKLY with a list of patients they shouldn't see because they aren't getting paid. In three years of servicing that account I've never ONCE seen them turn a patient away for nonpayment. Not once. In a significant portion of cases, they would qualify for Medicaid if they would bother to call and get a renewal. Nope. Too much trouble.

This is just one more series of liberal lies that have been used in demagoguing in support of Obamacare.
