The problem is, you don't know if they are crook until they prove themselves to be crooks. To draw an analogy, if you know you are going to marry a woman to whom you will divorce in a few years, will you still marry her? The problem is, you don't know she is a bit*h until she proves to you she is one. By then it is too late.
