>> .this guy really believes that the earth was created 6000 years ago and rejects evolution...he belongs to a religious sect that advocates such views...how can any reasonable person believe such non sense?
He has never, AFAIK, suggested the earth was created 6000 years ago. Here is a Carson quote:
"Darwin specifically stated that his theory hung on the discovery of intermediate forms, and was sure that we would find them. More than a hundred years later we still haven’t found them. "
"Take the simple case of ape to human. It should be easy to find abundant fossil remains since, according to evolutionary theory, this is the most recent transition. If we can find so many fossils of dinosaurs, which are further back in the evolutionary scheme, we should have plenty of evidence of intermediates between apes and humans."
So, he acknowledges the existence of the earth at the time of dinosaurs (which kills the first half of your claim). He is, however, making a reasonable point, i.e., Darwinism was based on the idea that intermediates would be found, and they, for the most part, have not.
He does question whether evolution happened exactly as some claim. And he presents a good case for his position. I don't know who is correct. While we know that evolution does occur, I'm not sure there is a lot of evidence to support the Left's view of human evolution.
I believe religious freedom in this country is absolute. If someone wants to be atheist, fine with me. If someone wants to be Mormon, fine with me. I just don't care, and I don't question their intellect because of it.
Liberals tend to accept certain religions while dissing others, based on subjective criteria. I just prefer to keep it out of the political realm. If a man, e.g., Romney, would make a president who is an order of magnitude better than Obama, I just do not care what his religion is. He's entitled to that, without any question whatsoever. If you want to judge him to be less of a man because of it, that's your problem. |
