The mistake most people make about the poor who think they are lazy or don't try. To a friend.

With all due respect my friend you are making the same mistake so many make regarding the poor and downtrodden. And it doesn't matter the race or color as the mistake is the same for all people who have not learned about learning. In a nutshell, They are not lazy. They are lost. They cannot know what they have not learned. And they cannot understand what they do not know. E.g. it is impossible to teach existentialism to an uneducated person or a kid.

It is hard for people to know how to learn if no one in their family knows how to teach them because they don't understand learning. And so their kids get behind early and just continue to fall behind the kids who got early educational instruction. Among the educated and rich, they fight over putting their kids into the best pre schools. The poor and downtrodden kids don't even usually go to pre school at all. So when they do get to Kindergarten the rich kids are so far ahead of them they feel defeated right from the beginning and school becomes a negative experience. And it is all down hill from there.

If you could take every child of an uneducated poor person in the country, and put them in a college professors house, you would find that most of them would both go to college and function just like any middle class person.

The Jews e.g., educate everyone as it is both expected and facilitated in their culture. Take my daughter and her husband who is a college professor of physics. They didn't even start their family until my daughter was in her mid 30's and they work on those kids education constantly. I just spent 3 weeks with the kids and what I did mostly was work on the education of their 3 and 6 year olds.

They both had tons of workbooks and if I was helping the 3 year old, the 6 year old would bring her work book. I found the 6 year old and my other daughters stepson who is 8, up early one morning and they were reading to each other. Kids who learn to learn love to learn thereafter. And are confident children as they succeed in school and life.

So they learn to learn and work and few end up looking lazy or needing much help.
