when or if the money starts rolling in, argentina will manufacture some detail to halt chevron's getting or keeping its share of the money. it could come from the president's office or the legal branch, but it will surely come. it could also come by argentina's slow-paying some debt or bill it owes to chevron. there are many ways to get hosed by a kleptocracy. i am not even mentioning (until now) the legal problems chevron might have with repsol outside of argentina. heck to make this deal work, chevron is perhaps getting some big dollar amount up front before it has to spend a penny in argentina.
