There are a number of factors:

The shame and ridicule that will follow him is one.

There's the terrible judgment and recklessness issue.

The prospect of blackmail. I heard the other day that two foreign governments had scandalous Lewinsky-related dirt on Clinton. Who knows if they used it? I still think the Republicans erred in airing all of Clinton's dirty laundry in public. Better to have blackmailed him ... and I'm not sure if they didn't at first.

Then there's the trust issue ... you know someone who's lied, who kept doing this and lying about it after getting caught ... there isn't anything you can ever believe about them.

And finally, for Weiner to keep doing this after being publicly humiliated ... it shows he isn't in control of his obsession. He's a compulsive exhibitionist .... in time, he'll be flashing women in the park. If he doesn't do it already. Who knows what he'll move on to. I think his neighbors with children should be worried.
