I know you say it used to be more affordable back in the day but for those of us who live outside, its always been very expensive. And that's not going to change.......probably ever.

Ted NYC really was quite affordable most anytime from the great depression up till the stock market boom post 1982. You could buy a three family walkup on one blue collar income back in the day be it 1950 or 1965 or 1975. Most all my relatives became very well off cause they bought dirt cheap on one very modest income that went very far as the wives didn't even work 50+ years ago. Of course they also were required to saved a lot of money first as it was impossible to finance much of the purchase back then
