Jesus was one of the first great teachers to proclaim the basic principle of individualism -- the inviolate sanctity of man's soul, and the salvation of one's soul as one's first concern and highest goal We begin to see this break down over in Egypt start to evolve much much earlier, where immortality & a trip into the afterlife is only for the Pharoah's preparations , then later dynasties the aristocracy starts to vie to have this option for their souls and later on the common man starts to dream of having the same. There are gods that evolve at the same time who are then become partial to the salvation of the sick, poor & common laborer. The first serious attempt to create a MONOTHEISM we actually observe is in EGYPT around 1400BC, not Judaism or the god of Abraham (they are still sacrificing children at that time ), that would be during the revolutionary reign of Queen Nefertiti & her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten.
