I think that's BRCM biggest negative at the moment, that the analyst community sees too much competition in all of their different vertical markets. This makes current numbers almost meaningless, if that's the case. The lastest rumor is that they will lose the AAPL business in the very near future.

History shows that often the short term negative perception is overridden by a new product line or improved expectations done the road. I'll be watching to see if BRCM's future reality is truly as bad is it's being made out to be. I think there is plenty of room for the BRCMs of the world, as my view is that chips (in general) have been undervalued. Short term weakness in one area can make a strong company look less viable then they truly are.

This is one of the main reasons why I don't agree with RtS and Jacob shorting a company like KLIC. Yes, it's working beautifully but I would hate to be short, looking for 50 cents or 2 dollars, if another company comes along and buys them out for a 50% premium or some such number. I'm not rooting against them and totally understand why they play this one short. At the same time, I guess maybe I could be a bit too bullish on the sector for the longer term....and I do consider this factor.
