No, I think he's too wacky even for them. But he's ideologically closer to them than he is to today's Democrats.

I'm not saying he's a Republican. But he is a faaaaaar right conservative. Don't know about economic issues, but on the stances we do know about, he is easily on the conservative side of the spectrum.
