Well The Tennessee Investor has SME as one of his top 7 picks for 1998. His 1997 picks did, overall, 44.5%... pretty good. On with this months write-up.
"With heavy insider buying, we are again picking SME as one of our top picks for 1998. If everything clicks we could be looking at a double or triple for 1998. Our expected downside is a 1/2 point...Buy...John Dessauer's Investor world said this about SME: Service had a 3rd quarter loss of 25 cents a share or 22 cents before extraordinary items. This was slightly better than expected. Good news was hard to find in this press release. But there is in fact good news: SMEs 3rd quarter suffered from the move away form dependency on the catalog mailings. In stores where SMEs new systems are in place, sales are rising. There is a chance that SME is at the beginning of a new trend to growth in sales and profits in the stores. We made a lot of money in ShowBiz when management turned the company around. We may very well make a lot of money in SME, for the same reason. Service Merchandise is a buy under 4 1/2"

till next month,,,
