>List of Applications Planned for Rhapsody.<

I was very excited earlier this year when I read that CA was writing for Rhapsody. It is a perfect platform for their busiess programs. However, when I read the list of apps available I noted the following:

1) CA is only putting up software tools - no business software.

2) No Oracle products listed (isn't this guy on the board of directors?)

3) No Quicken products listed (isn't this guy on the board of directors?)

4) No Adobe products listed.

5) No Microsoft products listed.

Agreed, you can run some under blue box but it shows nobody seems to be killing themselves to be first out with Rhapsody product announcements.

To me the great tragedy of Apple is that they do not set their computer manufacturing department free and let them sell any computer they can. Apple would instantly be the only business that can offer a web site build-to-order store for Mac or Microsoft OS on either PPC or Intel. Apple would MAKE MONEY and it would fit into their Rhapsody PC offering and it would allow them to promote the Apple OS.

Incidentally, I think I found out why Dell scrapped WebObjects for their web site development tool and switched to Microsoft Commerce. It had nothing to do with politically correct. It had to do with making money. Dell is running big expensive ads on TV now selling Dell computers and telling how Microsoft made their web store. In other words by switching to Microsoft Web tools, they are able to get Microsoft to put up a lot of ad money. Cost Dell nothing and they make a bundle. Dell can think and act different - can Apple? January will be the last shot.
