In NZ, there are a couple of endangered species, hectors and maui dolphins and there is much hand-wringing. But great white sharks and killer whales are protected. Cute little dolphins are like M&Ms to them. The blame is put on fishermen catching dolphins by accident in their nets, but I'd bet big money on killer whales and great whites deliberately eating them because they get really hungry and are really good at catching little mammals that have to breathe air. Killer whales are really smart too, and hunt in gangs. Great whites lurk around below and look for shadows on the surface.

There is no shortage of killer whales or great whites. Even deliberately hunted, it would not be possible to eliminate great white sharks which are spread around the world. Killer whales would be easier to eliminate as they have to breathe so are more easily spotted.

Declare open season on killer whales and sharks. Killer whales also torture and kill other mammals such as gray whales [ripping their tongues out as a delicacy, leaving them to die].
