AMI bios has supported the zip long before this.
I recently upgraded my box to an Intel motherboard with an AMI bios purchased at a local roll-your-own shop. I was pleasantly surprized to see that during autoconfiguration the bios correctly detected and set up my internal IDE zip drive as drive D:. With my old motherboard I had to run a TSR program to recognize the drive. This means the industry accepted the zip as standard equipment long before today's announcement. The ability to boot from it as drive A: is only an incremental advance.
