China was run by China after that too, other than some administrative assistance from Japan for a decade before China's bacon was saved by New Zealand [with some help from USA/Oz etc]. [makes as much sense] After several generations, people should be able to get past ancestral woes and stop blaming something that happened hundreds of years ago. China for example in only twenty years has gone from a hutong mess of poverty to modernity [sort of, relatively, more or less]. It doesn't take centuries or even half centuries.
Look at Japan, South Korea, Singapore for examples of how quickly barbarianism and poverty can be left behind and huge economic development established. It took them only a couple of decades.
