lots of reasons.higher productivity, better family lifeless worker turnover
Sure! All things that the free market provides, not unions!
all things the unions(I.e. workers =people actually working0 knew long before Ford
People actually working don't have to belong to unions. Most people that work don't belong to unions (thank God!)

What did people know long before Ford?

There is really no benefits to the working man that he didn't have to fight for from his masters

Working people HAVE no masters! That's why they work voluntarily, to be free (among other things)

Until unions, it simply was not possible for the worker to have any voice at all.
Wrong again! Workers had no voice because they were poor. When the free market began to bestow wealth on everyone, the employers suddenly had to compete for workers. THAT'S when their standard of living began to rise. And after wealth got to a certain point in the 1920's the free market forced employer's hands. They had to pay the workers more and make them work less or lose them to another employers. Unions have only weakened companies and therefore weakened the options for workers. Unions are the parasites that hold back the wealth that could be improving everyone's lives. Unions are a major evil on the planet.
The fact that Ford benefited from the 40 hour week wasn't Ford's great idea, otherwise he would have begun Ford with a 40 hour week.
No, he wouldn't have. Do you think the 40 work week was out of the kindness of his heart? No, it was out of necessity from the prosperity that that free markets create. He was FORCED into the 40 work week and higher pay or lose his workers to the competition.
