Oh, I sure as hell don't defend it. I'm just calling it what it is. The reason this industry has this pricing model is because of government's imposing price controls which began in 1965, via Medicare and Medicaid. The only real solution is to get government out of the health care business. While that would still leave a problem with private insurance companies, the problem becomes more manageable. Not that that could ever happen at this point, but our direction is 180 degrees opposite to what it should be.
