Dear New Feature Discussion Board participants,

A major upgrade to the technical underpinnings of Silicon Investor took place this evening. This upgrade does not involve the addition or subtraction of any features.

Please report any unusual errors or encountered oddities you see either directly to me or here on this board, and we'll fix them right away. Nothing like this ever goes perfectly smoothly.

Fundamentally, the Silicon Investor source code has been developed more or less in ordinary text editors (like notepad) for the past 18 years. The extensive changes brought online tonight took several weeks to complete, and retooled SI to move the SI codebase into an integrated development environment.

So, while you may not notice any changes (or you may notice a bug or two we need to fix due to this change), underneath the surface this upgrade is absolutely huge in as far as what it will allow us to do going forwards.

Looking forward to our growing together. We should now be able to bring about many great new advances much more quickly going forward, as well as to fix problems people encounter faster and more easily. It seems hard for me to believe that it was never possible before today to attach a real-time debugger to SI's code while executing, or to step through the code during development. It was developed without design-time syntax checking, intellisense, etc.

It has been very "old school" working on the SI code the past 8 months, and I am very happy to be helping take this venerable institution up the next level.

Regards,

@Dima
