The current conventional wisdom is that nobody outside of the top 5 of the top 30 chaebols is safe. Already you have Daewoo, the #3 chaebol, taking over the #6 chaebol, Ssangyong Motors, thereby strenghtening Daewoo's car division. That kind of asset- shuffling and consolidation is probably what's going to happen at the top 5 chaebols which include Hyundai and Samsung
