I LOVE IT! You totally made that up!!!! If you enter "First red, then brown" on Google, there are only three relevant entries.

There is one in March 2012 where you said that in another SI post.

There is another in March 2012 where someone named "Joseph Wright" (whom I'm guessing is you) made the same "point" in the comments to an article by Susan Estrich.

The only primary source that even uses the phrase is from a Holocaust survivor's book where he said that there was a Communist he knew in Germany that in 1933 changed his shirt from red to brown.

That's it.

So I call bullshit.
