Chaz (and Dan), major problem is that NeoMagic won't release Linux drivers--or allow anyone else to write them (and I'm still within the 30-day return period on this machine, so if I don't figure something out, I'm going to send it back and find a machine without a NeoMagic chip).

The machine itself is fine:
1) 13.3", 1024x768 with 16-bit color.
2) 48MB
3) Ethernet Plug: Plug??....10/100Base-T, if that's what you're asking.
4) 166MMX.
5) Plenty of HD space.
6) 16x CD

I'd prefer graphical apps--if I wanted text only, I could Telnet in. I see that X-Servers make each screen redraw come through the network (my machine doesn't do it). From home, I'm only 28.8, so that's too slow anyway.
