Benton Resources (BEX-V) stakes 271 more units at Mealy

Benton Resources Inc. has acquired, through staking an additional 271 claim units, a total land position of 1017 claim units representing approximately 261 square kilometres within the Mealy Lake intrusion. The Mealy project is contiguous and directly along the strike of Altius Minerals Corp.'s 256 square kilometre Natashquan property located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Churchill Falls in Labrador. Altius has recently announced a new nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum-group-element discovery and that they have entered into a joint venture agreement with Anglo American whereby Anglo has the option to earn a 66-per-cent interest in the project through expenditures of $20-million over a five-year period. Exploration highlights from Altius' Nastashquan discovery include 2.68 grams per tonne combined platinum, palladium and gold (grab); 6.14 per cent Cu and 388 parts per billion Pt; 1.04 g/t combined Pt, Pd, Au and 1.06 per cent Cu over 1.30 metres (channel); 1.04 combined Pt, Pd, Au and 3.92 per cent Cu over 1.00 m (channel); 2.49 g/t combined Pt, Pd and Au and 1.07 per cent Ni (grab); several grab samples greater than 7 per cent Cu; and soil samples up to 26,000 parts per million Cu. (See Altius website.)Benton is currently planning an airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey to be followed by geological mapping, prospecting and soil sampling on anomalies identified from the new survey.
