You can look back to the US civil war, the confederate prison at Andersonville that saw upwards of 13,000 union soldiers die of malnutrition, overcrowding, filth & exposure. Good Christians all, on both sides, with very few atheists living in those times then, so give it up nimmy.
No not all American ideals , but some essential feelings were shared. That was a war that should never have happened, they were also enemies of our enemies, its not always the simple solution & finger pointing you think. And only the dumbest morons would have thought to install a Catholic puppet president over a primarily 95% Buddhist country like Vietnam, (try doing that in Thailand, see how the tigers react) complete arrogant ignorant nimrods on the highest levels. And they all admitted it later, except for the ones that stupidity clings to their grey matter like a disease.
All we had to do was be patient, use wisdom & forbearance, instead got feinted into a conflict we could not win strategically in modern jungle warfare. Our military elite was gearing & training completely for desert Middle East war at the time, our airforce superiority was inadequate & eventually countered. |
