I don't give a whoop about the comfort of the bankers. They weren't comfortable with Liz Warren as Consumer Protectorwoman, and I was. Now they aren't comfortable with Senator Liz, and I am. I want them feeling uncomfortable. In fact, I want them debating "What is comfort?" around a coffee table at en.wikipedia.org

What ever the "new" housing policy is to be-it needs the support of both bankers and consumers. There has to be enough profit in it for the Bankers that they will willingly participate, and enough give in it so that working consumers can swing a loan without having to put Grandma up for collateral.

We put a 190 billion into rescuing Fannie and Freddie (130 of which they've paid back) and those agencies currently back 3 out 5 homeowner loans---so we somehow need to keep the liquidity they've created and tone down their risk.

John may be right when he says it is the regulations that need to be adjusted. It may be easier to do that then to get entirely new housing legislation thru congress.
