I am suggesting that we improve the quality of inner city schools so that they are the equivalent of the schools found in affluent communities.......something similar to what was done with Garfield High, a black high school in a predominately black neighborhood of Seat

This is certainly encouraging, but since our debate is about welfare and its kids chances of success if they are raised by a single parent on it, what we would need to know here for your example to have validity for this debate is this:

No, the debate is about ending the poverty cycle among American blacks. Your answer is to end welfare. Mine is to improve inner city schools so they are equal to the best.

How many kids that are going to this school are being raised by a single parent on welfare, and how many of these kids are able to graduate from this HS and either get a job, go on to college, or go into the military?

What I can tell you is that the majority of black males in major American urban centers are not completing high school whether their mothers are on welfare or not. That fact bodes very poorly for the future of this country.

Do you agree that that information would be useful to have and, if so, do you know where we could get it on the internet?

We don't need more info to know that things are bad in American ghettos. Instead we need actions that break the poverty cycle.
